Art & Fire

A documentary on South American painter Bruno Torfs.

ACTIVITY

South American painter and sculptor Bruno Torfs lived a peaceful life in the quaint country town of Marysville, Victoria. He earned a living out of his home based studio and public garden, featuring his uniquely sculpted fantasy creatures for visitors to enjoy.

His entire livelihood was destroyed in one horrendous Saturday afternoon in 2009 when the Black Saturday fires ravaged the town. Bruno had only minutes to grab what he could and run for his life before his home and garden were engulfed in flames.

Bruno lost everything and discovered he was underinsured. The path to rebuild has been hard but as his restored home and garden takes shape Bruno shares with us lessons he has learned and how emerging from the fires has changed him as an artist and a person.
